Top 10 Historical Places of Pakistan:

Tourists are free souls who are seeking adventures, for joy and memories. They explore the beauty of the world from its highest spot to the lowest corner and fill their plate of life with multiple desserts of memories.


If you love traveling and you are adventure lover I must say you should rank top, Pakistan in your must visit places’ list as it is enriched with four beautiful seasons, old civilization, historical places and from highest point( K2) to the delta of the indus river there are so many attractive places in Pakistan. We can claim that Pakistan is a rich and mouth watering buffet of historical and adventurous places for a true nature and historical lover. From this buffet I select the historical corner and list down top 10 historical places of Pakistan that a person must visit at least once in life.

Mohenjo Daro

Mohenjo Daro (Mound of the Dead Men) is an ancient place located in Sindh.  This city is the most well known city of Indus valley civilization and was built in 2600 BCE. Mohenjo Daro is considered as one of the world’s ancient city. It is mostly known for its well planned structure and water draining system.

 The city was ruined in 1900 BCE and rediscovered in 1920 from that time till now mohenjo daro is a source of attraction for archeologists and history lovers. 

Rohtas Fort

Rohtas Fort is another ancient site of Pakistan located near the Jhelum city. This fort was built in 16th century in Sher Shah Suri regime and it is considered as the largest  fort in subcontinent. Rohtas fort has 12 gates and looks majestic due to its massive appearance.

This fort was built in Turkish and Middle Eastern style. Its defensive walls and militant structue grabs attention and attraction of tourists.

Hiran Minar

Also known as “The Deer Tower” built in 17th century in Mughal era during the region of Mughal Emperor Jahangir. The Minar is located in Sheikhupura and is the symbol of Mughal Empire’s love for pets and hunting,

Noor Mahal

Noor Mahal is a palace located in Bahawalpur State of Pakistan. This palace was built by Nawab Adnan Abbasi IV in 1872. The palace is consisting of 32 rooms decorated with beautiful furniture that was imported from Italy and England.

There is a rumor regarding Noor Mahal is that Nawab made this palace for his beloved wife although she stayed there only for one night and reject to stay here due to the adjacent graveyard.  Although no evidence found to support this rumor but it adds some flavor in the attraction of this site.

Badshahi Masjid

Badshahi masjid was built in 1673 in regime of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. It is the 2nd largest mosque of Pakistan. Red color stones enhance the prestigious look of this mosque. It is located in heart of Pakistan (Lahore).  And must visit place of Pakistan

Shahi Qila

The Shahi qila also known as Lahore fort is another must visit place of Lahore. This fort has two portions one is administration and the other is private section. This fort has two gates Akbari and Alamgiri gate. This place ranked in UNESCO world heritage site in 1981 and it is open for visitors and school trips

Minar e Pakistan

Another historical site from the pages of Lahore book is Minar e Pakistan. Not only historical but it is a national monument because on 23rd march 1940 Lahore resolution was passed at this place. First time two nation theory was explained over there that defines a clear vision of subcontinents’ muslims. So a tower was built during 1960-1968 in order to mark this site as a national monument.

Faisal Masjid

Faisal Mosque is the symbol of Pak Saudi friendship as King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz supported and financed this project. Faisal mosque is ranked as largest Mosque of Pakistan and South Asia while 4th largest in the world. This  Elegant and beautiful building was designed by Vedat Dalokay belongs to Turkey. This Mosque was built in 1986 and it is open to the public and a very religious and attractive place for tourists.

Derawar Fort

This fort is located in the Bahawalpur it was built in 9th Century Ad by Rai Jajja Bhatti.  Fort is based on 40 bastions that are visible for many miles in Cholistan Desert. This fort shows great work of architecture and gives a beautiful view of the surrounding desert.

Pakistan Monument

This place is a national monument and heritage museum in the heart of the capital of Pakistan. Its structure is designed to give a message of unity and give tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for their country. Pakistan monument grabs attention of tourists even from miles away and it is always over crowded with people who love to visit places with the combination of beautiful architecture and national heritage.

As I mentioned earlier these were the some dishes from the buffet there are so many places in Pakistan that a person should visit and enjoy God’s creation in form of natural beauty and  artistic work done by men.
